The Pact
We had talked about film adaptations in class and we were told to think about one we had seen, whether it be good or bad. I had read the book The Pact by Jodi Picoult and I liked it a lot. There was a lot of description and the character development was done very well. Almost all of the characters were round and had there own sense of uniquness to them. The movie version of The Pact was terrible. They took the main plot and twisted it. Major character and details about those characters were taken out and they changed the thoughts/emotions the characters had had throughout the book. The movie seemed to drag on forever and was a waste of an hour and half. It seemed like the movie was just trying to get the main idea of the movie down and get it over with; they even failed at that.

I have never seen the movie or read the book, but i hate when this happens. If you can't make a good movie out of it, don't ruin it with a bad adaptation. You'd think with all the time and money put into movies they could at least make it decent.
ReplyDeleteI hate seeing crappy movies based off of good books. It's super irritating; however, sometimes the movies can be better. I'm a super big fan of Stanley Kubrick's movies, and most of his movies are based off books. Movies like A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove. The books that the movies are based on don't always have the same title. Kubrick makes the book's plot his own which is pretty cool.
